Rahul Jacob on Connecting the Dots in Life and ERP

“Connecting the dots never changes, and that’s what keeps me moving forward.”

For Rahul Jacob, every step in his journey has been guided by a philosophy of seeing the bigger picture. As an immigrant navigating new countries and cultures, he learned early that no experience is wasted; each challenge, each opportunity, each detour adds a dot to the story of his life.

From Electronics to ERP

Rahul’s path into technology was never pre-planned. An electronics and instrumentation engineer by training, he originally imagined a career on the field wearing an orange hard hat. Instead, he chose consulting—a decision that would eventually lead him to become a Senior Technology Architect. “I didn’t map my career in advance… it’s only in looking back that I see how the dots connect,” he reflects.

Connecting the Dots, Across Borders and Experiences

His journey is not just professional but deeply personal. Each experience—every hurdle and every success—added a dot to the bigger picture of his life and career. It’s this philosophy of connecting the dots, forward and backward, that drives his approach to complex problem-solving.

“Every experience, no matter how small or unrelated it seems, eventually finds its place. That perspective keeps me moving forward.”

The Mentor and the Rope

Mentorship is central to Rahul’s philosophy. He credits much of his growth to mentors who trusted him to operate in uncertain waters—and he pays it forward. “I present myself to be a rope. If you ever need to grab onto it, ask a question, I’m there.”

Rather than dictating solutions, he guides others to chart their own paths, instilling accountability and ownership in every step—a principle he believes is especially vital for those navigating careers far from home or comfort zones.

Finding the Grey Through Life Outside Work

Weekends reveal a different side of Rahul: a real estate enthusiast and an experimental home chef. These passions teach lessons he brings back to his professional life. Cooking, with all its trials and errors, gives him patience to navigate complexity and embrace nuance. “The chef in me… helps me find the grey. That’s when I experimented my black and whites together.”

Real estate, on the other hand, hones his perseverance, commitment, and analytical drive—the black-and-white side of his personality. Together, these pursuits enrich not only his personal life but also his ability to lead, mentor, and make thoughtful decisions.

Lessons to Share

Rahul’s advice to aspiring professionals is rooted in fundamentals:

“The tools… will continue to evolve and change, but do not lose focus, nor compromise on the principles, patterns, and fundamental concepts.”

Through connecting the dots, embracing challenges, and balancing passion with discipline, Rahul embodies a journey of continuous learning, resilience, and the quiet art of human-centered leadership.
