“I want to regret the things I’ve done, not the things I haven’t.”
Those words live at the core of who Marc Correia is. A son, a mentor, a learner, and someday—a founder. It’s a sentiment shaped not in boardrooms, but on sports fields, family businesses, and quiet moments of doubt.
Behind the SAP consulting success story is a man who spent years figuring out where he truly belonged—and what he was meant to give back.
Humble Beginnings and a Builder’s Legacy
Marc’s journey began far from the world of enterprise tech, shaped instead by the hands-on grit of working in his father’s businesses. His dad was a true entrepreneur—running multiple ventures over the years—and Marc grew up folding into that rhythm of building something from nothing.
Ironically, despite watching his father chase dreams fearlessly, Marc was discouraged from becoming a business owner himself. “It was just a thing—Dad never wanted me to run my own,” Marc admits. But the seed was already planted. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, something I feel I need to do.”
That dream never left. It just waited quietly in the background as Marc forged a path that would eventually bring it back to the surface.
From Doing to Leading—and the Lessons Between
Marc didn’t fall into leadership. He grew into it, slowly and with intention.
“People think when you become a leader, you’ve arrived. But really, you have to earn that voice.”
One of the hardest truths he learned? Being promoted doesn’t mean your team will follow you. Respect has to be earned. “You have to show them you’ll be there when the chips are down. That you’re not managing from the sidelines.”
He began eating his own dog food, as he puts it—living the same standards he expected from his team. “If you say this is the bar, you have to let yourself be measured by that too.”
Seeing More in Others Than They See in Themselves
If there’s one thread that runs through Marc’s story, it’s his quiet belief in people—especially the ones who haven’t yet found belief in themselves. He recalls one team member: quiet, technical, brilliant—but utterly unaware of their own potential.
Over five years, Marc mentored this person, challenged them, and stepped back when needed. Eventually, they stepped into Marc’s old leadership role when he moved on. “They told me they’d never imagined they’d be able to do it. But I had seen it in them for years.”
Marc mentors not because he has to—but because he believes leadership is about magnifying others, not elevating yourself.
“We put ourselves in boxes. I love helping people realise they were never meant to stay there.”
The Dream That Refuses to Go Away
Despite years of transformation in the ERP space, Marc’s heart still whispers about a different future—one where he starts his own business, one with a soul. He dreams of impact beyond spreadsheets and strategies.
“Depending on where I am, I’d want to get involved in the biggest needs in that community. Homelessness, addiction, whatever it is—we can’t keep saying it’s someone else’s responsibility.”
For Marc, business is a tool. A vehicle for healing. And though he hasn’t taken the leap yet, he knows he will.
“When I’m old, I don’t want to look back wishing I had tried.”
To Anyone Feeling Stuck: Dare to Fail
Marc has reinvented himself many times. And when asked what he would say to someone stuck in a career rut, his answer is simple: “Get over the fear.”
“You don’t have to be the expert right away. You just need to try. If it doesn’t work, you’ve learned something. You can always go back. But what if it works? What if it leads you somewhere you never imagined?” He pauses.
“That’s the magic of trying. You give yourself a chance to discover something bigger.”
